Routine is how Super Dads can reduce stress

A daily routine will provide you with a structure that will reduce stress and give you a clearer idea of what you can handle. It allows you to review, plan and prioritise your things to do and take projects and thinking to another level.

My routine underpins all that I do. Getting up at 5am each weekday, 5.30am Saturday and Sundays… well it’s the flexible morning and its planned that way.

Knowing I have this quiet time in my crazy house with 4 children keeps me sane and allows me to keep ahead of this mob who can be quite a handful when the emerge from their rooms. This time in the morning grounds me and provides the needed ‘think time’ to check in with myself and what needs doing. Gives me the time to review the day and week ahead, do exercise, grab a coffee, drink my litre of water first thing and get stuck into the current priority project.

What I love about it is that by 7am you have already smashed through or made a big dent into the important stuff for that day and you have taken another step to delivering on that bigger plan and goals you may have set. You have gone for a run, done some weights, hydrated, meditated and go on and done some work… It’s a great feeling and then you can open yourself up and be more present to those around you knowing you are already well underway with what you needed to do.
